A 19-year-old woman in Sudan was sentenced to death for fatally stabbing her husband for raping her.

The next day, when the couple was alone, the man tried again to rape Nura, however, she, defending herself, grabbed a knife and killed the tyrant.

Noura at the age of 16 was forced into a marriage by her father, she vehemently refused and ran away to live with her aunt for three years, to continue her schooling. She then went to her parents for help, but they turned her into the police.

It was a trap. She moved into his home past year, but reportedly refused to have sex with him. While her hands held her husband's family, so she can't get out.

Her legal team has at least 15 days to appeal the judgement.

Late last month, Hussein was found guilty of premeditated murder.

The terrified young woman has support from hundreds of protesters. Her case, they say, sheds light on a culture that subjects women to male violence, and a broken justice system that renders many women powerless. In May, Noura alleged Hammad's cousins held her down as he raped her, according to BuzzFeed News.

Hussein has been held in a women's prison in Omdurman, Sudan's second-largest city, since May 2017. CNN reports marital rape is legal in Sudan, and the legal age of marriage is 10.

Based AT&T calls hiring of Michael Cohen a "big mistake"
But Cohen has known Trump for years. "Whatever lobbying was done didn't reach the president", Giuliani told HuffPost . CEO Vas Narasimhan said in a letter to employees on Thursday that the company "made a mistake" in retaining Cohen.

"Under Sharia law, the husband's family can demand either monetary compensation or death". The whole family has to agree on the punishment, Salah said.

"They chose death and now the death penalty has been handed down".

"But for Hussein's supporters at the courtroom, the news was very distressing", Habani told Al Jazeera.

Sudanese novelist Hamour Zyada wrote on Facebook on Saturday, as part of a campaign tagged #justicefornoura that "Noura is a victim and not a killer".

The court is full.

The petition helps get the attention of media, as well as worldwide (human rights) organizations. Groups such as Equality Now are writing to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to plead for clemency.

Shahd Hamza, 20, was among those who came to support Hussein in court, after hearing about her case in a group chat on WhatsApp. Meanwhile, Change.org also launched an online petition on her behalf.
