One person was killed and four injured in Saturday's attack.

We are following developing news out Paris where a man with a knife has killed at least one person, and injured several others during a stabbing spree near the Opera District.

Paris police said the attacker died.

Two other who were injuured were in serious condition and all the victims are in hospital.

"I then spoke to eyewitnesses who told me a man stabbed multiple people at random".

Police said on Twitter they are investigating a knife attack and said the suspect died in the incident.

The Paris prefecture had earlier said a person had carried out a knife attack in the second arrondissement - or district - of the French capital.

Police have set up a perimeter and say the situation is under control.

The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal investigation, Gaudin said. The deadliest happened at the Bataclan concert hall, where 90 people were shot and killed.
