Mr. Dahm said that under current law, Oklahomans are subject to greater restrictions while on Oklahoma soil than visiting gun owners from so-called "constitutional carry" states, which are broadly permissive.

The bill passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives last week.

SB 1212, introduced by Sen.

Supporters of the bill stressed that the state's foster care system is "overloaded". It would have authorized people 21 and older and military personnel who are at least 18 to legally carry a handgun, either openly or concealed, without a state-issued license or permit.

This week in Oklahoma Politics, KOSU's Michael Cross talks with ACLU Oklahoma Executive Director Ryan Kiesel and Republican Poltical COnsultant Neva Hill about the 2018 legislative session ending three weeks ahead of schedule with several controversial bills heading to Governor Fallin's desk and the lawmakers might not be finished in this year. "Our legislature has shown it is willing to jeopardize our safety and bow to the demands of the gun lobby". Fallin noted that the bill also would have eliminated the requirement for a training course and reduced the level of background checks to carry a firearm.

"Self-defense situations are hard, if not impossible, to anticipate", said the NRA's lobbying arm in an alert.

"Oklahomans believe that lawabiding individuals will have the ability to shield on their own".

As such, it can be used to determine when a current trend may be coming to an end or when a new trend may be forming. The firm owned 77,490 shares of the computer hardware maker's stock after selling 20,040 shares during the period.

Opponents said that the bill would allow discrimination based on anti-LGBTQ hatred.

Faith-based organizations involved in adoption and foster care have closed in other states that don't have similar laws, she said.

The adoption law goes into effect November 1.

"To the extent allowed by federal law, no private child placing agency shall be required to perform, assist, counsel, recommend, consent to, refer, or participate in any placement of a child for foster care or adoption when the proposed placement would violate the agency's written religious or moral convictions or policies".

"We are grateful for Gov. Fallin's support of religious liberty in Oklahoma", said the Most Rev. Paul S. Coakley, Archbishop of Oklahoma City, and the Most Rev. David Konderla, Bishop of Tulsa.

The governor signed HB 2177 without comment.

As the state prepares to follow Oklahoma's lead in passing its anti-LGBTQ adoption law, Catholic groups have placed blame on queer and trans advocates for forcing them to discriminate in the first place. Joseph Silk, R-Broken Bow, are the authors of the measure, which requires the state attorney general to defend legal challenges to such displays.
