"The platform details its belief in "...openness, diversity, tolerance and respect..." along with an action plan in which "...we do not permit hate content on Spotify, and remove it whenever we find it".

Spotify in announcing the new policy said it thought long and hard about how to handle content that is not hate content itself but comes from artists or creators who have demonstrated hatful conduct personally.

It said when an artist does something harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways it works with the artist.

Since 2002, R. Kelly has had numerous charges piled up against him such as but not limited to: making child pornography (though he was acquitted in 2008), running/being part of a cult, underage sex and abuse, manipulating a woman into willingly receiving a STD from him, etc.

Celebrities, including Lupita Nyong'o, Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, Ava DuVernay and Brie Larson, have also shared their support for #MuteRKelly on social media, People reported. A campaign to have him dropped from a concert in Chicago last week was successful, and another protest, to prevent him playing in Greensboro, North Carolina on 11 May, continues to gather pace. And we listen to our users - if you think something is hate content, please let us know and we will review it carefully against our policy.

The Teaser Trailer For 'The Predator' Has Arrived
The latest instalment in the sci-fi horror series is the fourth standalone Predator film (we don't count the Alien vs. Brown, Alfie Allen , Thomas Jane , Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey , and Yvonne Strahovski are amongst the cast .

Guess that behavior isn't flying anymore, and Spotify is taking steps to de-emphasize the artists on its very powerful platform.

Hollywood's Time's Up movement has also put pressure on the singer, demanding "appropriate investigations and inquiries into the allegations of R Kelly's abuse made by women and their families for more than two decades".

However, there are a myriad of other artists who in theory could be subject to the policy. As recently as Wednesday, XXXTentacion was featured on the popular Rap Caviar playlist. There is some precedent for the move - in 2017, a number of white supremacist songs were removed altogether from the service - but it marks a formalising of the company's processes around hate speech and misconduct.

Spotify said it worked with several groups to create its policy, including GLAAD, the Anti-Defamation League and The Southern Poverty Law Center. "His music will still be available on the service, but Spotify will not actively promote it", a further statement from Spotify provided to NPR reads.

Rapper XXXTentacion is the only other artist to be penalized under these new terms. It calls the decision "shortsighted".
