CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The best thing Tiger Woods could say about his final round at the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday was that it was over and that another tournament awaits this week. At Quail Hollow, the Strokes Gained Putting stats for Woods showed him 72 in the field, with only the third round a positive day on the greens. Both players said they were looking forward to the experience.

But don't let that make you think that Harman has totally written of a Woods victory. "But at the end of the day, they both win, and they're both guys that we look at and say, it's unbelievable what they're doing, and they're just changing the game, the game how it's played".

"I know they tried that first experiment in 2008 [at the U.S. Open], [when world numbers] one, two and three were out together, and that was a blast for both of us". We don't really do this very often, unfortunately. And I said, yeah, you and I have the same philosophy in how we approach chipping and how we do it. I mean, I love the chance.

"We don't really get paired together", Woods said.

This is far from the first time these two Hall-of-Famers have teed it up together: over 30 times, in fact, on the PGA Tour.

"I feel like I'm hitting the ball well enough and just trending in the right direction for next week", said Woods, who has won 79 career PGA Tour events and 105 professional tournaments overall. According to the PGA Tour, they have been in the same group 32 times spread over 21 tournaments. "We're going to get the best players in the world playing, and I think that's all that matters".

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Mickelson was asked the prospects of playing with Tiger, and, somehow, the five-time major victor managed to further hype the vaunted pairing.

However, Woods made a strong return this year, claiming that his back woes were behind him and proving it with a stretch of three straight top-12 finishes, including second at the Valspar Championship in March.

"I don't think anybody today who wasn't there to witness it, and I don't think anybody before, will ever see that level of play again", Mickelson said Tuesday at TPC-Sawgrass, via ESPN.

The win comes after Day's victory at January's Farmers Insurance Open, his first title since the 2016 Players Championship. Mickelson took The Players in 2007, although some young stars on the Tour - such as Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth - have not won the event yet.

In all, they have played in the same group just 35 times, with Woods holding a slight edge in their round-by-round scores at 16-15-4.
