Google News isn't a simple, static news feed. The new Google News utilizes an improved set of AI techniques to sort through all of that information in real time and organize it into storylines.

As we recently reported, Google is discontinuing its Newsstand digital magazine app in favor of the older Google News, which will be revamped to incorporate rich media elements from both Newsstand and YouTube, as well as the technology behind Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). When you open the Google News app, the first five stories in your briefing will be custom tailored to your personal tastes and interests.

The revamp of the news app follows Google's pledge in March to spend $300 million supporting journalism, including by enabling subscription payments and fighting fake news.

If you want to learn more, you can dive in more deeply to stories through the "Full Coverage" feature, which is also launching along with the redesign. There's also a "Headlines" tab, with important news from around the world.

Google News also has a refreshed visual aesthetic that plays greater emphasis to featured images and videos. Rather, the program uses reinforcement learning to know more about you the more you use it. Here, the hottest developments in natural language understanding gather a group of videos, articles, and rates on a single issue. You are going to be able to see top headlines from various sources, videos, regional information reports, FAQs, societal opinion, as well as a timeline for all stories that have played out as time passes.

During this years I/O, Google dropped that they will be overhauling the Google News (News) app with a focus on new AI features along with an entirely new app.

As Google News PM Trystan Upstill explained, "having a productive conversation or debate requires everyone to have access to the same information".

In another competitive move against Facebook, Google announced an easier way for users to subscribe to publisher content through a new "Subscribe with Google" option rolling out in the coming weeks.

Upskill concludes "It's an unfiltered view of events from a range of trusted news sources". If you prefer to register to some publication, you no more a demand for bank card varieties, or even passwords.

Google News will roll out across the Web, Android, and iOS in 127 countries starting today.
