  • BBC Breakfast presenter falls into swimming pool during live interview

A BBC reporter accidentally fell into a swimming pool during a hilarious live interview with the British swim team.

Try though they might, the swimmers, who included Adam Peaty and Siobhan Marie O'Connor, couldn't contain their laughter at the gaffe.

Bushell got up mid-interview and began to walk to the middle of the pool with the water just reaching his knees.

Bushell actually stepped into the shallow part of the pool willingly.

"Now I've got to be very careful because I have a sound pack on", he said, edging towards the water.

Support Equal Pay Day event
As the Economic Policy Institute's Elise Gould and Jessica Schieder note in a report, it's impossible to " mansplain away ". The AAUW also announced a new commitment to train 10 million women through salary negotiations programs by 2022.

Bushell has since copped a bit of a roasting on social media, although it's all been pretty good natured.

As he fell into the water, his initial reaction was that of absolute surprise as can be seen and heard in the video further down this article posted on Twitter.

As the BBC man pulled himself out, he managed to continue stay in character and is heard saying: "Sorry about that".

Mike was about to interview the English swimming team at the Commonwealth Games in Australia for BBC Breakfast, but he unfortunately lost his balance - landing him straight into the swimming pool.

Bushell later added: "I just thought it was a little Jacuzzi or a kids' pool".
