Snapchat brings back chronological feed (for some people)

  • Snapchat retrieves their popular reverse chronological order for stories

While there is no official word from Snapchat as to whether this is just a test or a beta update already, they're now at a crossroads as to whether to keep their current user base happy or to entice occasional and new users to try them out more frequently.

It looks like Snapchat is rethinking its decision to algorithmically sort its users Stories feed.

That being said, Snapchat has reportedly undone those changes for some users and brought back the chronological feed. By moving social media stars and brands that don't follow you back over to the Discover section as part of the redesign, there's less noise in the chronological Stories list, so it works better than it did a year ago. We've reached out to Snap (the app's parent company) for comment. According to TechCrunch, though, that change has been reversed for a lot of users, with feeds appearing in reverse chronological order again. The algorithm sorting that Snapchat has been using was created to put people you watched Stories from or chatted with the most at the top of your feed.

Brazil's ex-President Lula surrenders to police
Lula's several requests to stay out of jail until he had exhausted all appeals against his corruption conviction were rejected. They remember him for a 2003-2010 presidency that saw tens of millions lifted from poverty and Brazil rise on the world stage.

The messaging app's move towards an algorithmic ranking in its redesign ensured that people you watched stories from or chatted with most, showed up at the top so you'd be less likely to miss their content. This may have helped Snapchat attract new users as the company did see some growth improve in its latest quarter since the update.

Reverting the algorithmic sorted feed could make it tougher for newer and less consistent users of Snapchat who want to pop in and see the new content instead of having to sort through friends. With a massive overhaul that that many felt seemed to focus more on advertisement optimization than the user experience, users were extremely unhappy with a change to their feed that they never asked for.
