Comedian Bill Cosby has arrived for the third day of jury selection in his retrial on sexual assault charges.

Six racially diverse alternate jurors were picked without incident Thursday after an earlier showdown over the jury's racial makeup. The process resumes on Wednesday in suburban Philadelphia.

The defense had accused prosecutors of discrimination when they removed a black woman from consideration.

District Attorney Kevin Steele says "there's absolutely no legitimacy" to the defense challenge.

Opening arguments are scheduled to begin Monday.

Cosby is charged with drugging and sexually molesting a woman at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

Almost everyone else in the initial jury pool of 120 suburban Philadelphia residents indicated they knew about the charges against Cosby, including the two women picked on Tuesday, and scores of potential jurors were sent home because they said they had already formed an opinion about the former TV star's guilt or innocence.

Bill Cosby's lawyers have scored a pair of rulings crucial to their strategy of painting his accuser as a money-grubbing liar as jury selection in his sexual assault retrial continues for a third day.

Constand's lawyer has said Marguerite Jackson isn't telling the truth. He claimed Constand and her lawyers harmed his reputation and cost him a chance to return as district attorney by criticizing him and suing him for defamation days before the 2015 election.

Castor's lawsuit said Cosby paid Constand "well into the millions of dollars" in a civil settlement.

The young man picked as a retrial juror said he did not know anything about Cosby's case. Cosby lawyer Kathleen Bliss said Wednesday that a member of the prosecution team was overheard saying "something that was discriminatory and repulsive".

The woman said she could put aside her thoughts that Cosby is guilty.

Six more jurors were chosen on Tuesday, bringing the total number seated to seven.

Three of the jurors said they or a family member had been the victim of a sexual assault, but vowed that it would not affect their ability to be fair and impartial in Cosby's trial.

But Judge Steven O'Neill scoffed at the notion Cosby can not get a fair trial. Two prior groups yielded the 12 jurors needed for the main jury.

Only two people Thursday said they'd never heard of the #MeToo movement, or were aware of the recent spate of sexual misconduct allegations leveled at those in the entertainment industry.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - Prosecutors and the defense began picking a jury for Bill Cosby's sexual assault retrial Monday amid a powerful #MeToo movement that has pierced the consciousness of the men and women who will sit in judgment of the 80-year-old comedian.

Eight jurors have been picked so far, including one Wednesday.

The comedian and former star of The Cosby Show is being retried for sexual assault after Andrea Constand revealed that she had allegedly been drugged and molested by the 80 year-old sometime in 2004. Some even said they had heard that a previous set of 12 jurors had been unable to reach a unanimous verdict in June, a deadlock that prompted a mistrial. One juror said the panel was split 10-2 in favor of conviction, while another said the group was more evenly divided.

The first juror has been seated in Bill Cosby's sexual assault retrial.

The alternates - comprised of four men and two women - will be sequestered this Sunday evening, along with the jury panel that was finalized on Wednesday. Ten are white, two are black.

The jury questioning revealed some potential witnesses, including Dawn Staley, the SC women's basketball coach who was Constand's boss at Temple; Temple board President Patrick O'Connor, who represented Cosby in Constand's 2005-06 lawsuit against him; and Judge Risa Vetri Ferman, the former district attorney who charged Cosby just before she left office in 2015.
