According to the Sunday Times, 15 people were murdered in London in February, while 14 were killed in NY.

In 2018 so far, Met Police has investigated 46 murder - compared with 50 in the USA city.

"Our city remains one of the safest in the world. but Sadiq wants it to be even safer and is working hard to bring an end to this violent scourge".

The shocking tally means the murder rate in London has risen by 40% in just three years; the stark opposite to New York's crime statistics which have fallen by almost 90% since Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's harsh crackdown in the 1990s. NY has been able to bring down serious violence through a public health approach. "We need a proper strategy that looks at all of the issues".

Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesman said on Tuesday: "there can be no place in our society for violent crime".

Forecast: Mild Sunday, but chance of April snow for Monday
Previously the forecasters had predicted that the heavy rain would arrive at 6pm, and pass through the area by midday on Monday . A stray morning shower, otherwise Easter Sunday shapes up nicely! A southwesterly breeze will become stronger in the afternoon .

The latest victim, a 20-year-old man, was stabbed to death after leaving a bar in the Earlsfield area of south west London in the early hours of Easter Sunday, according to The Daily Telegraph.

POLICE IN LONDON are investigating after a teenage girl was killed and a boy injured in separate shooting incidents in the city last night.

Scotland Yard Commissioner Cressida Dick had renewed the force's commitment to tackle knife crime on the streets of the city in February. We will not police our way out of this problem.

London Met Police said that a 17-year-old girl died after she was found with gunshot wounds in Tottenham. In a recent interview, she had blamed social media for driving youngsters towards violence and murder and warned that often trivial disputes between young people were escalating into murder and stabbings at unprecedented rates.
