  • Heaviest April snow storm in 12 years hits NYC

According to the National Weather Service forecasting up to 6 inches of snow expected to fall in the Garden State in a quick-hitting storm that will sweep through with heavy snowfall for about six hours. Totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible near Philadelphia and NY, with the highest totals outside the major cities and on grassy surfaces. Heading into the weekend, a morning mix will be likely Saturday transitioning to all rain as temperatures rise.

Rain begins Tuesday morning, falling steady and heavy throughout the day.

Superintendent Louise Blakelock, Deputy Head of Road Policing for Police Scotland, said: "We are expecting snowy conditions over the next couple of days, especially on the higher level routes". New precipitation Tuesday amounts to less than a tenth of an inch possible, the weather service predicts. This won't last, with cold air returning with a vengence.

Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky are forecast to take the brunt of the storm's wrath, DeWald said.

Forecaster Marco Petagna said: 'With this rainfall we are certainly looking at some localised flooding in south-west England, Wales and Northern Ireland anywhere in the warning area.

But that snow will be gone later today as skies will start to clear and highs in the upper 40s are forecast.

Thursday in the Omaha area is expected to be partly sunny with a high around 50.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for heavy downpours from Sunday evening onwards.
