The mobile first index, which has been testing with some sites in their search index, sees Google crawl, index and rank a page based on the mobile version of the page instead of the desktop version.

Catering to over 12 billion online searches every month, Tenor has become one of the biggest names so far as GIFs are concerned. "Tenor will enable us to do this all the more viable in Google Images and additionally different items that utilization GIFs, as Gboard", the internet searcher monster noted. Today, GIFs are virtually everywhere - on social media, in chats, in news articles, even in your keyboards. You've probably come across Tenor on several platforms while looking for that flawless reaction GIF.

The terms of the deal weren't disclosed in full extent, however by positioning itself as a search company that slots into a messaging ecosystem, Tenor seems like a natural piece of the puzzle for Google.

Cathy Edwards, a Google engineering director, said in the blog post that Tenor will continue to operate as a separate brand.

Google acquired the search engine GIF Tenor - Facebook's basic system to allow users to easily search and share animated GIFs in Messenger. Tenor quickly followed its iOS launch with similar applications for the Android and MacOS platforms, and its growth has been steady ever since.

"We look forward to the next leg of our journey with Google as we grow Tenor to help anyone with a mobile device visually express the full range of human emotion", McIntosh said.

However this appears to be a test as not all users are seeing the changes, meaning that there is no guarantee that Google will implement this new feature, but what say you? The Search Giant wrote, "Mobile-first indexing means Google will now use the mobile version of a web page for indexing and ranking, to better help our primarily mobile users find what they're looking for".

Google, however, stated they will invest more in Tenor while efforts to integrate the latter's services more closely with Google will continue.
