  • Investigative journalist Sandeep Sharma mowed down by truck in MP's Bhind district

Police said they have formed an SIT team to investigate the case. The journalist, Sandeep Sharma, had been investigating the alleged nexus between the sand mafia and the police, and questions had been raised about the manner of his death.

What also could give credence to the possibility that Sharma was deliberately murdered is that the journalist had previously complained to the police that his life was under threat because of his investigations.

In the letter seeking police protection, Sharma had accused a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) of being hand-in-glove with those engaged in illegal sand mining.

"Security of journalists is our priority and strict action will be taken against the culprit", Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the state's chief minister said on Monday.

The incident took place a few meters away from the Kotwali police station at 8.55am when Sharma who was riding his two-wheeler was hit by the dumper from behind killing him on the spot. Sharm'a sting operation was aired on the local channel with which he was working.

President Donald Trump's successful 2016 presidential campaign for the White House to develop voter profiles. Facebook stopped allowing developers to collect information about app users' friends in 2015.

Bhopal Press Club president told the media that Sharma had informed the local administration about the issue.

Sharma is survived by his wife and two children aged 14 and 15 years.

The footage of CCTV installed in the area clearly showed that the dumper suddenly turned towards left, appearing as if the driver had lost control of the vehicle, after negotiating a curve and hit the deceased's bike from behind.

Sharma's death on Monday brings the number of journalists killed in India in relation to their work to 44 since 1992. "This will be clear after investigation".

Three journalists were allegedly killed in the last 24 hours in separate incidents in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, according to sources. Navin Nishchal, who worked for Dainik Bhaskar, and his colleague Vijay Singh were on a bike when they were hit by a auto.
